Taylor Swift led the pack with a total of eight nominations at MTV VMAs, which included categories like Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, and Song of the Year for her hit track “Anti-Hero” from 2022. Remarkably, she clinched victory in all the categories she was nominated for that were televised.
Joining Swift in the list of nominees for Artist of the Year were Beyoncé, Doja, Karol G, Minaj, and Shakira. This marks a significant moment as, since the inception of this category in 2017, it’s the first time that all the nominees for Artist of the Year are women. Shakira was also honored with the prestigious Video Vanguard Award. Additionally, the night introduced a brand new category, Best Afrobeats.
The star-studded event featured captivating performances by renowned artists including Demi Lovato, Shakira, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B with Megan Thee Stallion, Diddy, Lil Wayne, Doja Cat, and Fall Out Boy, among others.
